How to Export Fitbit Data
Time required: about 5 minutes of your time. Fitbit takes 1–3 days to prepare the file and emails when ready.
Step-by-step
1. Open a browser (this can’t be done in the Fitbit app — must be web).
2. Sign into your Fitbit account at https://www.fitbit.com.
3. Go to https://www.fitbit.com/settings/data/export (or click profile picture → Settings → Data Export).
4. Scroll down to “Export Your Account Archive.”
5. Click “Request Data.”
6. Confirm via email — click the link in the confirmation email.
7. Wait for the “Your data is ready” email (usually 1–3 days).
8. Click the link in that email to download the zip file. (The link expires after 14 days.)
What’s in the export
- Daily heart rate (resting + active)
- Sleep stages (REM, light, deep, awake)
- Steps, distance, active zone minutes
- SpO2 (Sense, Charge 5+, Versa 3+)
- ECG (Sense, Charge 5+)
- Exercise sessions and GPS routes
- Food/weight/water logs you’ve entered
Sending it to us
After Verified tier checkout, you’ll receive a secure upload link by email. Drop the Fitbit zip there.
Troubleshooting
Didn’t get the confirmation email: Check spam. Search for sender noreply@fitbit.com. If still missing, request again.
Request never produces a “ready” email after 5 days: Sign back in to fitbit.com and check Settings → Data Export for a “View previous requests” link.
Multiple Fitbit accounts: Sign out, sign in to the other account, repeat.
What we do with it
We pull resting heart rate trends, HRV patterns, sleep architecture, and step count declines. Multi-month patterns are especially useful — they show the disability’s footprint over time in a way that single clinic visits cannot. Nothing reaches AI processing until personal identifiers are scrubbed.
