Your device already has the evidence
The data on your watch, ring, and phone gives SSA adjudicators what they need most: objective, day-by-day measurements of how your condition actually affects your daily life.
Why device data matters in a disability application
SSA adjudicators look for objective evidence when they review a disability claim. Self-reported symptoms — “I’m too tired to work,” “I can’t stand for long” — are easy for an adjudicator to discount because they’re subjective. Heart rate, step counts, sleep patterns, and oxygen saturation pulled directly from your Apple Watch, Fitbit, Oura ring, or phone are not.
Wearable and connected health data show the disability’s footprint over weeks and months — patterns that match what you say is happening in your body. That kind of long-form evidence is something a typical clinic visit cannot produce.
How the analysis works
You export your data
From the Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin Connect, Oura, or Whoop app on your phone — usually a few taps. We give you a one-page guide for your specific device.
You send us the export
Upload through our secure customer portal. All personal identifiers (name, SSN, date of birth, address) are scrubbed before any AI processing.
We analyze the patterns
Our AI engine extracts the clinically meaningful patterns — heart rate variability, sleep architecture, activity declines, post-exertional crashes — and matches them to documentation gaps in your records.
We produce a formatted summary
Adjudicators don’t read raw export files. We translate the data into a plain-English appendix that fits into your application: charts, time periods, and what each pattern documents.
You submit the package
The data summary attaches to your main application as additional supporting evidence — clearly labeled and formatted for SSA review.
What to do — getting data off your device
Each device exports data differently. We’ve written one-page guides for the most common ones. Pick yours and follow the steps:
Apple Health (iPhone)
Health app → Profile → Export All Health Data. Includes Apple Watch data automatically. ~3 min.
Fitbit
fitbit.com/settings/data/export → Request my data → emailed when ready (1–3 days).
Garmin Connect
Garmin account → Data Management → Export Your Data. Email link arrives within minutes.
Oura Ring
Oura web dashboard → Settings → Account → Export Data. Choose CSV format.
Whoop
Whoop app → Settings → Membership → Request Data Export. Emailed in 1–2 days.
Dexcom (CGM)
Clarity dashboard → Reports → Export. Standard CSV format with timestamps.
Withings (BP, scale)
Withings account → Settings → User preferences → Download my data.
Google Fit / Samsung Health
Use Google Takeout or Samsung Health → Settings → Download personal data.
Don’t see your device? Ask us — if it produces data we can read, we can probably use it.
Conditions where device data is especially useful
Device data is most decisive in claims where the disability is real but doesn’t show up cleanly on standard imaging or labs:
- ME/CFS and Long COVID
- POTS & dysautonomia
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic fatigue secondary to autoimmune disease
- Multiple sclerosis
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Sleep disorders (incl. CPAP compliance)
- Migraine with functional impact
- Diabetes (with CGM time-in-range data)
- Post-surgical recovery limitations
How your device data is protected
Your wearable data is medical information. We handle it the same way we handle clinical records:
Encrypted at rest and in transit. Your export file is encrypted from the moment you upload it through delivery of your final report.
PHI scrubbed before AI processing. Your name, date of birth, and other identifiers are replaced with anonymous tokens before any analysis runs.
HIPAA Business Associate handling. We are accountable for your data under HIPAA, including breach notification rules.
Never used for AI training. Your data is processed only to produce your analysis.
Deleted on request. After your case is delivered, you can ask for full deletion at any time.
Ready to put your device data to work?
The Verified tier includes device data integration as part of the package.
Device data analysis is included with the Verified tier and available as an add-on to the Comprehensive tier. Medico Disability Services is an AI-assisted documentation review service. We do not provide medical opinions, diagnoses, treatment, or legal advice. Your treating physician remains the only person qualified to evaluate your medical status.
