How to Export Garmin Connect Data
Time required: about 5 minutes. Garmin emails the export link within minutes.
Step-by-step
1. Open a browser and go to https://www.garmin.com/account/datamanagement.
2. Sign in to your Garmin account.
3. Click “Export Your Data.”
4. Confirm by clicking “Request Data Export.”
5. Check your email within a few minutes. Garmin sends a download link.
6. Click the link in the email — your browser downloads a zip file.
The zip is named something like [your-username]_garmin_export.zip.
What’s in the export
- Heart rate (all-day, exercise, resting)
- Heart rate variability (HRV) — especially detailed on Fenix, Forerunner 945+, Venu 2+ watches
- Sleep stages
- Body Battery score
- Pulse Ox readings (overnight and on-demand)
- Stress and Respiration tracking
- Workouts with GPS, pace, power
- Daily steps and intensity minutes
Garmin exports are more detailed than Fitbit’s — HRV in particular is sampled overnight at a clinical-grade interval on newer devices.

Troubleshooting
Email never arrives: Garmin uses noreply@garmin.com. Check spam, promotions, or updates tabs. If still missing after 30 minutes, repeat the request.
Zip is encrypted: You may have requested Sync Data instead of Export Your Data — try again from the correct URL above.
Multiple Garmin accounts: Use the same email login at garmin.com — that’s the master account.
What we do with it
Garmin’s overnight HRV data is excellent for documenting autonomic dysfunction (POTS, ME/CFS, dysautonomia). Body Battery scores show recovery patterns. Pulse Ox overnight series document sleep-disordered breathing. We pull whichever patterns match the conditions you’re claiming. Identifiers scrubbed before AI processing.
