Exporting Whoop Data

How to Export Whoop Data

Time required: about 5 minutes of your time. Whoop emails the file in 1–2 days.

Step-by-step

1. Open the Whoop app on your phone.

2. Tap your profile icon (top left).

3. Tap “App Settings.”

4. Tap “Membership” → look for “Privacy & Data Sharing” or directly “Data Export.”

5. Tap “Request Data Export” (or “Download your data”).

6. Confirm via email — Whoop sends a confirmation, click the link.

7. Wait 1–2 days for the “Your export is ready” email.

8. Download the zip from the email link before it expires (usually 7 days).

What’s in the export

  • Heart rate (24/7 continuous)
  • Heart rate variability (HRV) — overnight, Whoop’s signature metric
  • Resting heart rate
  • Strain score per day
  • Recovery score per day
  • Sleep stages, sleep performance score
  • Respiratory rate
  • Skin temperature (Whoop 4.0+)
  • Blood oxygen saturation (Whoop 4.0+)
  • Journal entries (alcohol, illness, etc.)

Troubleshooting

Don’t see “Data Export” in app: The web alternative is https://app.whoop.com/dashboard — Sign in → Profile → Privacy → Data Export.

Email didn’t arrive after 3 days: Contact Whoop support, or repeat the request.

Export contains only recent data: Request again and verify the date range option.

What we do with it

Whoop’s continuous HRV and strain/recovery scoring are particularly useful for: post-exertional malaise (ME/CFS — recovery score crashes after exertion), autonomic dysregulation (POTS — abnormal HR/HRV patterns), sleep apnea (overnight oxygen desaturations + respiratory rate variability), chronic stress/inflammation (persistently suppressed HRV). We extract clinically meaningful patterns and produce a written summary. Identifiers scrubbed before any AI processing.
